What a weekend! Insomnia62 was crazy from start to finish, and for those of you that joined us over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, we hope you all had as much fun attending as we did.
There’s so much that we could talk about across the weekend, from the awesome UK Masters tournaments to the single greatest crowd a Call of Duty event has ever seen, the weekend was jam packed with highlights, and we’re still coming down from the incredible high of the entire event. With that being said, we wanted to focus on the Belong specific parts of the show, and give you a quick breakdown and recap of all of what we brought to the show!
The Arena was once again a key feature of Belong at Insomnia, with a set up mirroring all of our 19 current Belong Arenas across the UK. High powered gaming PC’s, PS4 & Xbox One consoles set on our custom build gaming desks meant that the Arena at the show was a home away from home for those that have joined us in an Arena previously, or a perfect way to experience a Belong Arena for the first time for those new faces!
Daily tournaments, open free play stations, couch gaming, the Belong Arena at Insomnia62 had almost everything you can experience at any of our Arenas and we hope that we could provide the true arena experience for those of you that joined us.
The Spring ‘18 season of the Belong Arena Clash was a big part of the stage content over the Insomnia62 weekend, with the Grand Finals for Tekken 7, Call of Duty: WWII, League of Legends and Overwatch all taking prime space in front of a capacity crowd over on the Player Stage.
All of this season's finals were incredible spectacles, with back and forth games, upsets and amazing moments, worthy of the biggest stages in esports. We couldn’t be happier seeing some players taking to a stage to play their game for the first time and getting to experience the roar of a crowd for them. Below are the winners for each title in the Spring ‘18 season:
London Lionhearts - Belong London
Call of Duty: WWII:
Milton Keynes Enigmas - Belong Milton Keynes
League of Legends:
Portsmouth Pirates - Belong Portsmouth
Colchester Centurions - Belong Colchester
Call of Duty: World League Birmingham
The Call of Duty World League was a huge draw to the Insomnia62 weekend, with the best players from around the world converging on Hall 2 of the NEC to compete for an eye watering $200,000. The hype was at maximum as we went into the weekend, but no one could expect what we would experience while there. What is being touted as the best Call of Duty crowd ever, the grand finals between hometown heroes Splyce and American team Luminosity showed everyone just how passionate a UK crowd can be. With football chants, boos, gasps and everything in between the CWL Birmingham crowd would end up becoming a highlight of the show in their own right.
Luminosity would reign supreme, defeating the local team, and even up against that crowd, the respect shown was nothing short of incredible from all inside the venue.
Inside Hall 1 and the huge BYOC, tournaments raged across the weekend, with players competing in a range of titles. From Rocket League to CS:GO, day and night saw players and teams vie for supremacy and emerge from the weekend as UK Masters Champions. Below is a list of all of the winners for the UK Masters at Insomnia62:
Wind and Rain
League of Legends:
In closing, Insomnia62 was the biggest weekend for Belong and we literally cannot wait for Insomnia63 in August! Before that though, we've got a TONNE of exciting announcements to come, but for now, we need a sit down and a cup of tea!
